We have a network of instructors available across the country and more than 30 years’ experience in the drug and alcohol field. KCG provides Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT) training and Urine Collection training on-site at your office, web-based, or in our training facility located in scenic Evergreen, Colorado. Our small class size, with only six (4 only during COVID) or less students to an instructor, and our post-training availability and follow-up assures that your staff performs tests accurately, saving your company time and money.

We are qualified to train on the Lifeloc Phoenix 6.0 and EV 30: Draeger 7410, and other units. KCG is insured and has been DOT training since 1994.

BAT and Urine Collection Retraining Requirements

Urine Collectors and BATs who were trained more than five years ago will have to complete the required refresher training.

Training Courses

We hold our courses throughout the year. These are one-day courses beginning at 8:30 am and finishing around 6:00 pm. You may view upcoming sessions on our calendar to see what works best for you or your employees. When you register, please indicate your preferred class date.

Breath Alcohol Training (BAT) with Product Training

Breath Alcohol Training class grants you the knowledge you need to become a Breath Alcohol Technician, also known as BAT. You will learn proper procedures for alcohol testing using breath testing devices. You will also receive basic instrument training. DOT and Non-DOT training options are available, as well as re-certifications.

Mock BAT Testing

Mock BAT testing allows you to practice and confirm with an expert that you are following the proper procedures required by DOT regulations for a breath alcohol test. Breath Alcohol Technicians must follow strict guidelines to ensure DOT compliance. Mock BAT testing is a great way to confirm that your technician’s collection procedures are up to DOT standards.

BAT Instructor Training

Breath Alcohol Instructor Training class grants you the knowledge you need to teach your staff how to become BAT (Breath Alcohol Technicians). You will learn proper procedures for training others and basic instrument training. DOT and Non-DOT training options are available, as well as re-certifications.
**For BAT Instructor training, one year of experience is preferred and basic BAT training through KCG is required prior to taking the instructor training class.**

Supervisor Reasonable Suspicion Training

DOT regulations require staff members in certain supervisory roles to take and complete reasonable suspicion training. This training covers the legal guidelines that employers must observe. At the end of the course, supervisors will be better prepared to identify the proper cases of reasonable suspicion before referring the employees for drug and alcohol testing.

DER Training

DOT regulations require an employer to have a Designated Employee Representative (DER). This training qualifies you to receive test results and other sensitive details regarding the testing process. Designated Employee Representatives are also authorized to remove employees from safety sensitive duties and refer the employee to substance abuse professional. During this course you will learn: DER Responsibilities, Industry Definitions & Roles, Federal Rules/Regulations, Company Policies (DOT & Non-DOT), How to handle problem tests and more.

Urine Collection Training

The DOT Urine Collection Training class grants you the knowledge you need to become a technician capable of drug testing using urine and saliva collection products. DOT and Non-DOT training options are available, as well as re-certifications. **If you are certifying as a new collector for BAT or Urine, you must complete an online course before class. Bring 10 cups and 10 DOT forms with you. If you do not have them, please call.**

Urine Collection Instructor Training

The Urine Collection Instructor Training grants you the knowledge you need to train your staff to conduct drug and alcohol screenings with urine screening products. DOT and Non-DOT training options are available, as well as re-certifications. **If you are certifying as a new collector for urine, you must complete an online course before class. Bring 10 cups and 10 DOT forms with you. If you do not have them, please call.**

**To take this course, one-year of documented experience is preferred and basic urine collector training is required prior to taking the instructor training class.

Mock Urine Collection Testing

Mock urine testing allows you to practice and confirm with an expert that you are following the proper procedures required by DOT regulations and is required for qualification. There are 5 Mocks that are required. Urine collectors must follow strict guidelines to ensure DOT compliance. Mock urine testing is a great way to confirm that your technician’s collection procedures are up to DOT standards.

Employee Training

In this class, we will cover impairment signs and symptoms of drug and alcohol use, as well as the effects of drug and alcohol use in the workplace. This class is usually paired with DOT required reasonable suspicion training which includes additional information on the actions that must be taken to comply with DOT regulations.

Screening Test Training

SST Training grants you the knowledge you need to become a Screening Test Technician. You will learn proper procedures for alcohol testing using breath screening devices. You will also receive basic instrument training. DOT and Non-DOT training options are available, as well as re-certifications. It is important to note that as a SST, you are legally qualified to conduct screening tests only. To become qualified in both screening and confirmation tests, register for our BAT training instead.

Error Correction Training

DOT regulations require staff members who have a canceled test to undergo Error Correction Training within 30 days of the incident. This training covers the required information to maintain your DOT compliance.
